Rude Dog - "Riding the ridge between Roots Rock and Reggae, on a Detroit soul train."
The Tommy D NOW Band - "They remind me of the early Rolling Stones when they really rocked. I'll put the Sharkbait CD in rotation." - Tom McCarter of KUSP in Santa Cruz
Sharkbait CD review - "...'When Friday Night' came on I had to stop what I was doing right then and there. I ran to the other room, grabbed my headphones, puthe CD on repeat and listened to the CD at least 20 times. The song 'Listen to You' is what Rock & Roll should sound like. Tommy has the perfect Rock & Roll voice. The slide guitar work is absolutely great..." - Brian Walther of KLND in Mobridge, SD
Sharkbait CD Review - Sharkbait's punchy, rolling blues/country/classic rawk mix gets down and dirty with the aid of harmonicas, eight-string slide lap steel guitar, rhythm guitar and a drum kit. The lap steel comes courtesy Freddie Roulette, who has played with Charlie Musselwhite, Earl Hooker and others, so fans of lap steel (apparently hard to find on disc) should be thrilled for the instrumentation alone, which is as raw as uncured leather. "Friday Night" is the opening anthem for any bar with bushel baskets for lighting fixtures. "Wedding Song" is a slow, whompy slide sound made more tender by the soft-pedaled piano, the crooning harmonica stepping in and making the final sound as country as a firehall wedding in south central Pennsylvania. The EP's other three songs are faster, more aggressive and need constant lubrication from beer for the listener to enjoy properly. The album sounds like the product of denizens of West Virginia and Mississippi, and as such, San Franciscan Tommy Deschaine (aka Tommy D. Now) and his audience ought to be thrilled with his accomplishment -- legitimate, catchy country music you can whistle, made by city boys. -- Jenn Sikes. Splendidezine.com 3/23/2002Musicians
